Love this new paper from Michael Fullan on the need to redesign education delivery models in wholesale fashion to move away from our current obsession with a narrowly defined vision of success as mastery of academic content and scores on standardized tests. To wit, he writes:
“Our model consists of Four Elements of a Learning Design (see Figure 2): pedagogical practices, learning partnerships, learning environments and leveraging digital. This Learning Design – the four elements in combination – includes using and developing further what is known about the neuroscience of learning such as: ‘student as inquirer and knowledge builder’; ‘learning connects meaningfully to student interest and voice’; ‘connects students to the world with authentic problem solving’; ‘making mistakes and learning from them strengthens learning’; ‘collaboration and other forms of connecting with other people and ideas’: ‘enhances neural pathways and learning’, and so on”
